Help Low-Income, First-Generation Young Adults Achieve Self-Sufficiency
There are numerous ways for individuals and businesses to support our mission and create a meaningful difference in the lives of local young adults—either individually or as a group. Volunteer your time, share your talent and expertise, or support us with a financial contribution. Whichever way you choose to participate, your involvement provides education and career training to propel our community’s youth toward lasting economic self-sufficiency.
Ways You Can Get Involved with Future Link
Work With Students
Experience the rewards of working individually with a motivated, insightful young adult. Our mentors inspire students to achieve their full potential and are often inspired themselves by our participants’ hard work, positive attitudes, and enthusiasm. No experience is needed—just a willingness to meet regularly and share your wisdom, a desire to help shape a student’s future, and a mindset open to possibilities. Training and ongoing support is provided.
Share your expertise by speaking at a workshop that will advance students’ professional abilities. Our Engagement Program features several workshops throughout the year that teach valuable skills and promote interactions among peers and the Future Link professional network. Past topics include: Time Management, Budgeting, Managing Anxiety, Study Skills Tips and Tricks, Financial Literacy, Resume Development, LinkedIn Profiles, What Employers Want in an Employee, and Public Speaking Skills.
Transform the lives of a group of motivated young adults while experiencing a life-altering change yourself. Facilitators play a vital role in guiding local youth toward self-sufficiency by leading a unique and impactful 15-week seminar where students embark on a personal and professional journey to map out an education and career pathway. Experience the joy that comes from making a measurable difference in a young person’s life. Training, materials, and support provided by Future Link staff. Stipend available.
There are many opportunities to volunteer, virtually or in-class, including:
- Tutor: English, math, writing, accounting, physics
- Resume reviewer
- Mock informational interviewer
- Internship/Job interviewer
- Social media support
- General office help
Our students are eager to understand in-demand career opportunities available to them in a variety of industries. Connect with future workforce talent by hosting 40 students for an afternoon at your company. During this interactive session, you can introduce career opportunities at your business, let employees share their professional responsibilities and personal journeys, and discuss employment trends within your industry.
Support the Program
Financial contributions are always appreciated! Through your monetary support, Future Link can continue to invest in its program and help even more low-income, first-generation students achieve lasting self-sufficiency.
Future Link students need authentic work experiences to develop themselves professionally and gain relevant on-the-job training. We partner with local businesses to place our students in paid work opportunities. In return, businesses receive a high potential student with applicable skills, a strong work ethic, and an enthusiastic attitude (a win-win!).
First-generation college students identify finances (tuition and living expenses) as their largest obstacle to education. Help them overcome this challenge by funding a Future Link scholarship. Your investment will help shape our community’s emerging leaders.
Celebrate the success of our seminar participants as they graduate from Future Link’s first program phase (the 15-week Self Advocacy and Career Development Seminar) and transition into our multi-year support program. Establish meaningful connections with these future leaders and witness their unlimited promise as they share their growth, career aspirations, and excitement about beginning the next phase of their career development.
Future Link students often struggle to afford technology, which limits their access to critical resources needed to succeed in their studies. Donate your gently used computers, printers, tablets, and Microsoft Office software to position students for academic preparedness and success.
Your Support Makes a Difference!

“I am invested in my mentee—her dreams, her hopes, her plans. I am an affirming presence giving her the confidence and motivation to move forward in both her education and career. We began a story together and I want to see how the story ends.” –Kim L., Mentor to Melina L. (pictured)
“Oseremen is thoughtful, asks good questions and writes well. She is mature beyond her age and is very bright. Oseremen learned how to do many different jobs and has been a valuable contributor. We were impressed with her abilities, so we offered to extend the internship beyond our traditional 8-week time frame.” –Daniel B., Internship Host to Oseremen E. (pictured) at SPC Financial, Inc.
